Abstract

At the Aluminum Production Company, the chemical treatment to which the aluminum profiles are subjected, before being lacquered, takes place in the pickling, deoxidizing, degreasing, rinsing and passivation tanks and gives rise to a residue that is taken to a treatment plant; being separated into a liquid residue, which returns to the process, and a solid residue, which until now was stored without use. The objective of this research is to determine and analyze the chemical composition of this solid waste. The methodology used are procedures of Cuban and international standards. The result of the chemical composition obtained reflected similarity with the main constituents of cement (SiO2, CaO, Al2O3, and SO3), a condition that allows taking advantage of this solid waste as a replacement in the manufacture of construction materials, offering a feasible way to eliminate the inadequate disposal of the aforementioned waste.
